About the Intro to TK from Ling tosite sigure flowchart and guide
Unlike with TK's Rock band, Ling tosite sigure, with his solo work you can start about anywhere. TK's solo work is way more accessible than the explosive sound of Ling tosite sigure. Moreover, his solo work is more experimental than his work with the band so people are bound to find something they like in any one of his solo albums.
The recommendation order is merely suggested based off how popular Fantastic Magic was. This album was both commercially successful and critically acclaimed. Not to mention it had TK's most famous song, Unravel. For a lot of people TK's Fantastic Magic album is likely the starting point of how they got into TK's music.
From there Flowering is perfect to follow up with since it is TK's most experimental album which can really show people his full range as a music artist. Like Fantastic Magic, Flowering is amazing from start to finish. While not as commercially successful as Fantastic Magic it holds a high place in TK's solo body of work. One of his best.
After this listening to White Noise is recommended based off how it is TK's best work even above Fantastic Magic including some of his most challenging and most vulnerable work. Vulnerability being what distinguishes TK's solo work the most from his band's. A much gentler side not really allowed to come out fully in the band.
Finally, you ideally want to close with Sainou, while not TK's strongest work the album was a collaborative effort with many different musicians and artists so it showcases a wider range from TK. Sainou features contributions from Chang-mari (musician) and even lyrics by Sui Ishida, the manga artist of Tokyo Ghoul.
TK from Ling tosite sigure individual album extra details
Fantastic Magic: TK's most popular album containing Unravel from the Tokyo Ghoul anime series. Both commercially successful and critically acclaimed. TK presents noticeable Electronica elements in this work. A bit more J-Pop than the rest of his work. It will go on to hold some of his best work.
Flowering: TK's early solo work. His most experimental album. Critically acclaimed although perhaps not as commercially successful. Still one of his best as a solo artist.
White Noise: TK's absolute best album as a solo artist. White Noise contains some of his most challenging solo material. A bit inaccessible to be honest with the inclusion of noise rock elements. Probably why it has the album title it has. Not as commercially successful but critically acclaimed. From start to finish the album is absolute perfection. To this day, TK has yet to create anything like it.
Sainou: Not one of TK's strongest. The weakest from TK's body of work. The mastering really ends up killing the sound but the ideas are still there for the most part and again TK is still ahead of the curve in comparison to his contemporaries but not as inspired as his other works. Still worth a listen for deep cuts: Sainou (Sui side), Sainou (TK side), In Fiction, Hitotsu (One), Tsuru no Shikaeshi (The Crane's Revenge), reframe, and copy light.
